Website lasted updated 12th January 2012.Hello and welcome to the official UKB-Preservation Group website. Here is a bit about us and what we do.... Group history. UKB Preservation was set up in 2009 with just one vehicle, an ex Yorkshire Rider Volvo B10B. Within a couple of months the group tripled with two other vehicles joining, an ex Yorkshire Rider (new to GMT ) Leyland Fleetline and an ex GM Buses Scania N113. Since 2009 the small group has since grown with three former Merseyside vehicles being added from another member, a Volvo B6, Leyland Atlantean and Leyland Olympian. In early 2010, two MCW Metrobuses were added to the group, an open top ex London Transport bus and an ex GM Buses example. At the same time a Leyland Tiger coach also joined. As at September 2010, there are around 15 buses and coaches in the group, in various stages of restoration. In 2011, members of the UKBPG, joined up to preserve there vehicles in the North West Vehicle Restoration Trust at their new location in Kirkby. What does the UKBP Group do? The group was formed in July 2009 - with the aim of purchasing & restoring vehicles and displaying them at rallies to enable future generations to look at buses "how they used to be". We are a friendly group of like minded enthusiasts who wish to see the continued preservation of old buses. Together we are pooling our resources to help achieve this aim. Some are vehicle owners, others are just enthusiasts with a love of buses. We show our vehicles at events and try to attend as many as we possibly can (costing permitted). Details of which can be found in the "FORTHCOMING EVENTS" section. The preservation of these historic vehicles is not a cheap exercise, each one costing around £100 per month just in rent and overheads, then at least the same again (per month) to enable some level of restoration to be carried out. That is before thinking about fuel, tax and breakdown cover to take vehicles out and about..... If there is anyone (private individual or a business/corporate body) who would feel able to support us, we would gratefully accept either one-off donations, or a small, regular monthly donation that would go towards rent for undercover accommodation for our historic vehicles, or towards their restoration and maintenance costs. It doesn't have to be financial, we will gladly accept help from people who wish to get involved with the restoration of our buses, which are spread throughout the UK. Please contact us as above if you would like to help. Businesses in particular, there is an opportunity to sponsor the repaint (to include your logo) of some of our vehicles.
